Our eyes met across a crowded barn floor. She winked. He smiled.

Jake and I met in May, 2014 in Maquoketa, Iowa. We were both attending a concert in a barn called Codfish Hollow. I noticed the cute guy watching the show and we kept making eye contact. The band ended, he was standing by himself, I walked over and said “Hi” and the rest is history.

On September 9th, 2017, nearly three and a half years later, we were in the barn again watching one of our favorite bands, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats. The show was sold out and the barn was completely packed. In the middle of the show Jake told me he had to go to the bathroom. I wanted him to wait because there was no way he’d be able to find me again in the crowd! He promised if I stayed in the same spot that he’d be able to find me again so I continued enjoying the show. The next thing I remember is seeing Jake on stage in front of the microphone and feeling my heart beat rapidly. All I could think was “This is happening. This is it. He’s on stage. This is really happening.”

We are overjoyed to begin this new chapter in our lives together and can’t wait to share it with you.
